List of software for Windows on IA-64 (Itanium)

All software was tested on Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2.

Note that some links point to FTP servers (which some modern browsers might not support) and others to HTTPS (but may also be reachable over plain HTTP).

Compilers

Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 4 is the last version to target IA-64. It is the same compiler set as included in Visual Studio 2010. First install .NET Framework 4.0 (see above for the IA-64 version), then install the compilers from the ISO file appropriate for your host architecture. (Note that the compiled programs require at least Windows Server 2003 SP1; compatibility with Windows XP is unknown.)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Compiler Update for the Windows SDK 7.1 updates the aforementioned compiler set to Service Pack 1. Note that IA-64 hosts are also supported despite not being mentioned in the system requirements.
Programs compiled with the aforementioned compiler set may require the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable.
Windows Server 2003 SP1 Platform SDK is, to my knowledge, the last one to target unpatched Windows Server 2003 (and probably also Windows XP). This is x86 software, but can be installed on IA-64.
How to build Windows Itanium applications with LLVM (I have not attempted this yet)

IA-32 Execution Layer 4.3
This (but not necessarily this version) became part of Windows with Service Pack 1.
You can disable it by setting the registry value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wow64\IA32Exec\Enable to 0.
This will cause x86 programs to be run using the Itanium's built-in x86 hardware.
The change takes effect the next time an x86 program is started.
Service Pack 2
Internet Explorer 7 and the MUI pack for it (to my knowledge, there is no Internet Explorer 8, and the other Windows versions are limited to the Internet Explorer version that comes with them)

Windows Server 2008 R2

Untested.
